Position Description:

The Data Scientist I am accountable for the creation, preparation, documentation, and distribution of business program and revenue-related reports. All work must be completed in a manner that ensures data accuracy, efficiency, and the integrity of reports, while adhering to strict deadlines.


  • Using various reporting tools, generate recurring and ad hoc reports and queries in a timely manner.
  • Examine existing automated reports for accuracy and data integrity, and if necessary, develop these reports.
  • Utilize tools and methods to visualize data in easily digestible formats.
  • Facilitate the use of self-service data exploration and visualization tools by business partners.
  • Maintain a database of frequently used queries and reports for use by the entire staff.
  • Manage diverse report requests using the Spiceworks help desk ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with others to ensure report necessity, expand report criteria, clarify data sources and report application, and identify report recipients.
  • Identify proactive and ongoing opportunities to enhance existing reports and reporting mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with the Data, Reporting, and Analysis teams to create new reports to meet the expanding organization’s needs.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s systems and how they are integrated.
  • Create and maintain documentation of the report process.
  • Perform extra tasks as necessary.


Bachelor’s degree in business, statistics, economics, a technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excel expertise of the highest level required.
Preferred is a minimum of two years’ experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge or equivalent database experience.
Highly competent in mathematics and critical thinking, with outstanding organizational skills and sound business judgment.
When creating and reviewing reports, a keen attention to detail.
Experience collecting, synthesizing, and translating complex data into information that is simple to understand.
Be a quick student and eager to take on new challenges.
Balances a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness with the need to provide accurate information in accordance with strategic priorities.
