In Los Angeles, California, ramp agents start out earning $23.81 an hour. All through the first 10.5 years, there are ongoing wage increases.

Ramp Customer Service Representatives will be assigned shifts that range from 20 to 40 hours per week. Bending, crouching, twisting, standing, and walking are all required during work tasks. Repetitive jobs include stacking and loading luggage, working in small places, and spending a lot of time on your knees in airplane bins. On occasion, these chores will be carried out in inclement weather (heat, rain, snow, to name a few).

Responsibilities:

  • Guide incoming and departing airplanes from the gate positions in order to ensure on-time connections. Safely lift, load, unload, and move luggage, mail, and freight to and from aircraft.
  • Safeguard Mail, luggage, and cargo against weather, loss, and damage.
  • operating and driving ground vehicles, such as tow tractors, belt loaders, and tugs, safely in congested regions.
  • Lift and load luggage onto carts repeatedly, making sure that every suitcase gets to where it needs to go.
  • Make sure that cargo and bags are accurately directed to the passenger’s destination by operating baggage scanners and computers.
  • in all operating processes and procedures, adopts safety-conscious behaviors.

Requirements:

  • GED, High School Equivalency, or a high school diploma.
  • Age requirement of 18 years or older.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • English proficiency is a must.
  • Have rudimentary computing abilities.
  • Possess effective verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to regularly lift bags or objects weighing 50 pounds or more
  • The capacity to occasionally lift objects or bags weighing 50 to 70 pounds.
  • Be prepared to work a set and/or rotating schedule that includes weekends, holidays, evenings, and afternoons in all weather conditions.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test after receiving an offer.
  • A physical test success (PAT).
  • Pass a thorough post-offer pre-employment background check, which includes a criminal history record check and fingerprinting, as required by federal law.
  • Possess a valid work permit for the US
  • Subject to an approved accommodation, such as alternate PPE, must wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as permitted by the firm, including but not limited to: hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, protective headwear (bump cap or hard helmet), and high visibility safety apparel.
