Position Description:

SRE integrates software and systems engineering to design and operate large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE guarantees that Google Cloud’s services—both internally important and outwardly visible systems—are reliable, have adequate uptime, and improve at a rapid rate. Furthermore, SREs will maintain a close eye on our systems’ capacity and performance.

Responsibilities

• Create code for product or system development.
• Evaluate other engineers’ code and provide input to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Add to existing documentation or educational content, and modify it in response to product/program upgrades and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve them by examining the causes of the problems as well as the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Participate in or conduct design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select between available technologies.

Minimal requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or comparable practical experience, is required.
• 2 years of experience working with data structures/algorithms and developing applications in one or more programming languages.
• A master’s degree in computer science or engineering is required.
• 2 years of design, analysis, and troubleshooting experience with large-scale distributed systems.
