Company: Amazon

In order to head the Security Engineering Team at Amazon Redshift, we are looking for a Senior Security Engineer that enjoys a fast-paced workplace.

An online petabyte-scale data warehousing service is called Amazon Redshift. Using the same SQL-based tools and business intelligence apps that customers currently use, Amazon Redshift provides quick query speed.

You want to delve deeply into the operational, engineering, and commercial details. You are a skilled and meticulous leader who can develop businesses and other leaders. We expect both team members and management to take a high level of ownership for their program vision and execution of ideas since we have a collaborative culture that fosters creativity. You will have the chance to interact with cutting-edge technological systems. You will collaborate directly with AWS infrastructure and partner service teams in addition to all of the Amazon Redshift engineering teams. You will conduct yourself as a leader who has a solid track record of delivery, the ability to set priorities, and clear communication. You actively remove obstacles to creativity, open doors for new ideas, and manage several competing priorities in a hectic setting. You will be able to effectively mobilize support for your efforts, influence positively across varied teams, and work with highly technical teams to provide straightforward solutions to achieve program objectives. A data-driven strategy enables you to manage business escalations.

We at AWS require executives who can scale their companies quickly because we are expanding quickly. Additionally, you’ll require sound judgment. Our executives at AWS have a lot of ownership and autonomy, so they have a lot riding on their accuracy. You’ll need to be fixated on providing security engineering clients with the best customer experience possible. Finally, you’ll need to be creative and able to simplify, which is what our Amazon service teams do on a daily basis. In the cloud, AWS is rethinking technology infrastructure. We require leaders who can create straightforward solutions to complex issues by taking a fresh approach to issues.

At Amazon, we work hard to foster a culture that allows each team member to feel respected and at home while also promoting individual excellence. This comprises:

Embedded Team Culture

We celebrate our differences at AWS. We are dedicated to developing our inclusive culture. Our ten employee-led affinity groups have a global reach of 40,000 employees and more than 190 chapters. We host yearly and continuing learning opportunities, such as our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences, and we have creative benefit offers.

Work-Life Harmony

On our team, work-life balance is highly valued. It doesn’t matter how much time you spend at work or at home; what matters is the flow you create that gives both areas of your life energy. To be happy and fulfilled for the rest of your life, we think it’s important to find the perfect balance between your personal and professional lives. We provide flexible working hours and support you in finding your own method of juggling your personal and professional obligations.

Mentoring & Career Development

Supporting new members is a top priority for our group. We have a diverse range of tenures and experience levels, and we’re creating a culture that values mentoring and information sharing. One-on-one coaching and comprehensive but considerate code reviews are appreciated by our senior personnel. We are concerned about your professional development and make every effort to provide projects that will help each team member become a more well-rounded engineer and prepare them to take on more challenging jobs in the future.

Responsibilities:

You’ll need a variety of skills to succeed in this position, including a solid grasp of security technologies, tool creation, offensive and defensive security techniques, and ideally some expertise with data warehousing, database services, and distributed systems. You’ll need to take the lead and comprehend the operational difficulties involved in overseeing a fleet of widely dispersed, highly automated systems that communicate with operational systems. You’ll take the lead in collaborating with clients and partners on integration, operations, and security measures.

What a day looks like

On our cloud, hundreds of thousands of developers worldwide carry out billions of transactions each day. They make use of AWS’s capabilities to support cutting-edge enterprises, websites, and applications. To fulfill AWS’s pledge that security is our top priority, the Amazon Redshift Security team collaborates with each Redshift technical team. In order to address security issues at a large scale, we also collaborate with numerous partner AWS service teams. By creating tools and services that help our customers achieve their security objectives, from compliance to analysis, we increase customer trust. We delve further into security technologies including modern hardware security elements, cryptography, system hardening, and extensive audit analysis.
