Corporate Planning oversees the financial planning and analysis processes for the whole American Express organization and develops the necessary capacities. As a division of CP&A, the Capacity Development team works closely with the Enterprise to improve the effectiveness and value of Investment Optimization procedures and capabilities. The team is essential in defining the approach to managing investment optimization at the enterprise level, assessing capacity and priority in accordance with business requirements, and fostering continuous improvement through data, technology, and people.
This position will require the candidate to consult with and evolve the AXP Investment Optimization process through continuous addition of new & innovative analytical capabilities as a member of the team of Product Owners for the Planning Analytics (TM1) Technology Platform for Investment Optimization.
The position will communicate extensively with Finance & Marketing partners and coworkers across the Enterprise, and it is a highly visible position with regular contact with senior leaders. As a result, the ideal applicant needs to be highly analytically minded as well as to have strong communication abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities of the Core Investment Optimization (IO) Product Owner in the creation of new capabilities for the IO process.
- Create connections with our business partners and stakeholders in marketing and finance to better understand the needs of IO users and to design and record functional and technical requirements.
- Make user story documents and look for ways to improve the overall user experience.
- Be successful in reaching consensus or alignment.
- Inform the TM1 development team of all functional and technical design requirements.
- System integration testing (SIT) should be done to find discrepancies between what was intended and what was actually built.
- Accountable for user acceptance testing and producing comprehensive user guides for the target audience (UAT).
Requirements:
Practical abilities:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, or data analytics is required. A CFA, CPA, or MBA designation is preferred but not necessary.
- It would be preferable to have 2+ years of relevant expertise in finance or business with a focus on financial planning and/or forecasting and investment optimization results analysis.
- proficiency in P&L modeling and discounted cash flow models; knowledge of the card business model and economics would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical capabilities, good oral and written communication talents, the capacity to handle several priorities well, and a track record of producing results.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities, as well as the capacity to work in a highly matrix setting across marketing, finance, and capability development.
Technical proficiency/platform knowledge:
- It is necessary to be familiar with the Agile development technique and IBM Cognos TM1.
- Being exposed to Cornerstone would be good.

$55,000 to $105,000 per year in salary, plus bonuses and benefits
