Position Description:

The Director, Proposal Writing is responsible for directing the writing and strategic direction of responses to Medicaid procurements, as well as other writing tasks throughout the organization.

Essential Functions:

• Supervises CareSource’s internal writers, including HR-related tasks such as workload and performance evaluations.
• Manages CareSource’s relationship with externally contracted writers, ensuring their work meets or exceeds quality and deadline expectations.
• Establishes writer assignments and collaborates with pertinent stakeholders to determine the appropriate utilization of resources.
• Ensures the submission of a competitive and accurate proposal by collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including subject matter experts (SMEs) and executive leaders.
• Performs thorough evaluation, writing, and editing of proposal responses
• Manages proposal-related deliverables, ensuring critical deadlines and benchmarks are met.
• Coordinates and directs internal proposal project meetings
• Coordinates final production with print shops and manages original and redacted responses
• Contributes to the upkeep of the department SharePoint site
• General oversight and management of the writer’s style guide, content capture tool, and/or baseline content.
• Develops and implements best practices for the writing team and engages in continuous process improvement activities
• Performs any additional duties as required

Education and Knowledge:

• Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent number of years of relevant work experience
• Master’s degree is desirable
• Ten (10) years of professional writing experience are required minimum.
• Management experience with direct reports
• Experience working in environments with strict deadlines is required.
• Preferred is experience with public health programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, MLTSS, and/or other managed health care delivery programs.
• Prior experience with health insurance, including health plan, ACO, and hospital delivery systems, is desired.
