Our Container Platforms Engineering organization needs a capacity manager. This person will help our teams understand our current capacity and how our platform is being used overall. They will also use the data to find ways to make our virtual environments more efficient and dense. When more space is needed, the capacity manager will let you know and help you estimate, buy, and get new hardware to the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Make and keep reports on capacity
- Watch how much space is available and how it’s being used, and give weekly updates to leaders.
- Give suggestions and ideas for the platform to keep growing.
- Estimate the capacity needs for both organic growth and non-organic growth (M&A, project-driven growth, etc.).
- Do a “what-if” analysis during times with a lot going on (1/1 readiness, big data loads, etc.).
- Review the full-stack capacity, which includes our hardware footprint, the hypervisor, and the OpenShift clusters.
- Start, manage, and keep track of requests for buying hardware and building clusters
- Namespace requests are taken in and put on different container platforms.
- Find applications that aren’t using all of their resources, and work with them to make their environments the right size.
- Quarterly Service Reviews (QSR): Report on platform-level usage and adoption.
Requirements:
- Tableau or another BI tool like it
- Microsoft Excel PromQL or similar query languages
- Knowing how to run a computer system (Linux system administration preferred)
If you’re going to work from home sometimes or all the time, you need a cable broadband or fiber optic internet connection with speeds of at least 10Mbps download and 5Mbps upload.
For this job, we expect to pay between 128,000 and 213,400 USD per year, depending on experience, location, and other important factors.
It is also likely that this role will be eligible for an annual bonus plan.
