Responsibilities:

  • Review import documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support Kuiper’s customs brokers with the necessary data to enable entry filing for Kuiper.
  • Manage import customs compliance for Kuiper imports, including, but not limited to, harmonized tariff classifications, country of origin determination, product valuation reporting, import license applications, and ACE reporting.
  • Keep track of the entry status of imports and inform the relevant authorities of any holds or delays
  • Upload and maintain electronic import files in record retention repository for audit purposes
  • HTS classification for Kuiper imports, maintenance of items database in ERP system, support to HTS challenges, work with direct manager and Legal on classification rulings as necessary
  • Take action to respond promptly and compliantly to import holds (e.g., CBP/PGA holds).
  • Maintain Kuiper customs compliance work instructions and SOPs, manage document revisions, and support continuous process improvement of Kuiper’s customs compliance program.
  • Adhere to the customs compliance internal controls program to ensure compliance with international import regulations.
  • Keep track of and share metrics of imports, such as transit time, compliance accuracy, cost, customs broker performance, and pertinent data.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or nationals, permanent residents (currently holding a Green Card), or legally admitted as refugees or recipients of asylum due to applicable export control rules and regulations.

About the group

The major duty of the Import Compliance Analyst is to guarantee Kuiper’s compliance with US laws and regulations. The Import Compliance Analyst, who reports to the Senior Global Customs Operations PM, will coordinate activities involved in daily import transactions, such as harmonized tariff classifications, country of origin determination, product valuation reporting, and import license applications, in addition to developing and implementing guidelines and procedures for customs compliance policy.

The Import Compliance Analyst works closely with internal and external clients, customs brokers, government officials, and other functional areas to ensure import compliance and coordination as a crucial member of our Global Trade & Compliance Team. The Import Compliance Analyst will also find possibilities for improvement and help with projects to support objectives for global trade and compliance.

Requirements:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

• Three or more years of relevant experience working for US Import Customs
• Three or more years of relevant experience working with customs brokers and managing import transactions from the beginning of the shipment to entry filing and record keeping.
• Three or more years of relevant expertise using SAP-preferably advanced Excel and ERP systems, as well as the capacity to interpret data
• Three or more years of relevant experience in self-evaluations and responding to external audits of customs transactions.
• Three or more years of relevant experience in business, academia, or both.

FAVORABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Possessing a US Customs Broker’s License is advantageous.
• Understanding the PGA’s regulations for the aerospace sector is seen favorably.
• Be open to learning new skills and comfortable with ambiguity.
• Prior start-up experience developing or sustaining a compliance program from the ground up.
• An inquisitive self-starter with a track record of exploring uncharted waters, picking up new ideas, and stepping outside of your comfort zone.
