In particular, you will be in charge of running, maintaining, and providing 24/7 support for the high availability server, database, storage area network, and network platforms installed in both nearby and distant data centers spread across various time zones. Also, you’ll assist with everyday tasks like capacity management, provisioning, hardware and software configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance monitoring and tuning.

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out intricate analyses, installations, upgrades, and maintenance on computer hardware, operating systems, and software utilities.
  • Managing several systems, including ongoing weekend and after-hours assistance, in an uptime environment.
  • Keeping an eye on network performance, finding, and reporting performance problems.
  • Serving as a technical advisor for project teams and other technical teams.

With this hybrid position, your work environment will be clearly defined and will include both assigned office days and work from home options.

Requirements:

You will require:

  • Four or more years of experience in the relevant field.
  • Willingness to work overnight as part of a rotating schedule (shifts), if necessary for the business.

If you own any of the following, even better:

  • Experiences with Red Hat Linux, Windows, and VMware system administration.
  • Having knowledge in managing servers, backup procedures, and system monitoring in various sophisticated network server environments
  • Knowledge of providing 24/7/365 mission-critical system support.
  • Excellent writing and communication abilities, including the ability to write reports and system documentation that are clear and succinct.
  • The capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to complete tasks with little oversight and take part in cross-functional projects on time.
  • Knowledge of maintaining Oracle and SQL databases, including SAN platform deployment of Oracle RAC clusters.
  • Knowledge of DMZ implementation, server hardening, and cyber security.
  • Having knowledge of NFS, Netbackup, and Veritas Cluster.

Even if you don’t satisfy every “even better” criterion given above, we still encourage you to apply if Verizon and this position sound like a good fit for you.
