Position Description and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for verifying insurance coverage one week beforehand.
• Responsible for calling primary care physicians to obtain referrals and/or authorizations, if required by the payer.
• Accountable for verifying online or by phone with insurance companies and primary care physicians to obtain benefit information and confirm coverage.
• Responsible for informing patients about their insurance coverage, copayments, deductibles, and self-pay balance.
• Responsible for entering the authorization number and the correct CPT codes, NPI, Tax ID, PCP, and payer information into the EMR.
• Responsible for following up with the PCP or insurance company for the requested authorization.
• Responsible for canceling and rescheduling the patient’s appointment if the authorization is not received by 4 p.m. the day before the date of service.
• Responsible for verifying that the patient’s insurance information is accurate and matches the insurance verification, as well as expiring inactive payers.
• Accountable for completing billing duties within three days.
• Responsible for promptly and courteously answering the phone, handling requests and inquiries, and routing calls accordingly.

• Capability to handle multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment. Capability to manage and defuse patient complaints and disagreements.
• Communication and interpersonal skills of the highest caliber.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records and English/Spanish Outlook is required.
