Position Description:
Our customer service representatives assist the Office of Single Family Housing of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in achieving its goal of building thriving, inclusive communities and high-quality, affordable housing for all.
The duties of a customer service specialist include:
- Ensure top-notch customer service by responding to numerous phone inquiries and emails from the lending sector and the general public regarding FHA policies and procedures.
- Utilize a knowledge database and your understanding of the mortgage sector to find solutions to client questions.
- Observe normal operating practices when using different systems, topics, and contact methods.
- Keep a database of all of your contacts.
- Update your knowledge of FHA mortgage procedures.
Responsibilities:
- The capacity to use search tools, navigate between various computer systems and applications
- Excellent organizational and dependable skills
- The capacity to work independently and with little supervision
- Strong communication abilities both in writing and speaking
- The flexibility to work an 8-hour shift, 8am to 8pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, depending on company demands
Required Education and Experience:
- At least 3 years of loan origination experience working with conventional loans and/or other government-backed loans, or at least 2 years of loan origination experience working with the FHA plus an extra year of customer service or contact center experience (i.e. FHA, USDA, VA)
- GED or high school diploma
- A credit check and background check are both required for a Public Trust Security clearance, which is necessary.
Desired Capabilities:
- Experience with an omnichannel contact center
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, with written and spoken FHA experience
