- This position is part of the Information Technology Team, which is part of the Information Technology Division.
- In charge of developing and maintaining web-based, mobile-aware, Java applications and web services. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with internal customers, management, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, and other developers to understand requirements and development needs while gaining valuable experience and skills as a member of an agile team.
Responsibilities:
- Creates new and maintains existing applications under the supervision of senior developers, including but not limited to bug fixes, feature enhancements, and performance tuning in the Corporate Security, Emergency Planning & Response, Environmental, and Safety IT portfolios.
- Investigates and implements new technology in order to improve current processes, security, and performance.
- Complex issues are troubleshooted and debugged; solutions are identified and implemented.
- Works as part of a team to develop detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates, and ensures that tasks/projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Works with the production operations department to ensure that deployments go smoothly and that customer groups receive adequate support.
- Validation of design decisions is documented.
- Supports the development group’s implementation of policy and procedural changes.
- Supports the development of coding standards and follows the development team’s best practices and security guidelines.
- Takes part in code reviews
- As needed, provides on-call production support (24 x 7 x 365).
Requirements:
Education and prior job experience are required as minimum qualifications.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, technology, information systems (CIS/MIS), engineering, or a related technical discipline is required, or equivalent experience/training.
- Total development experience of two years
- 1 year of experience with web applications or services
Qualifications Preferred – Education and Previous Work Experience
- Total development experience of 2+ years
- 2+ years of web application development experience
Skills, Licenses, and Certifications in the Airline Industry
- Basic to intermediate object-oriented programming knowledge, common data structures and algorithms, design patterns, and best practices are required
- Python, C#, XML, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, GIT, JQuery, Angular, SOAP/REST, and other web development technologies are required.
- Knowledge of Visual Studio and Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) or GitHUB is required.
- Understanding of relational databases (MSSQL Server, Oracle)
- Capability to examine applications and services for compliance with security standards
- Networking understanding (Sockets, TCP/IP, UDP)
- Excellent time management and prioritization abilities
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Personal commitment to Agile principles and a mindset of continuous improvement
- TDD and automated testing knowledge
- Understanding of PCI Compliance and OWASP standards
- Understanding of diagnostic tools (SOAPUI, Fiddler, IE Inspector, HTTP Analyzer, Dynatrace)
