The Sr Analyst, Systems Engineering person possesses specialized technology skills in a variety of mainframe and distributed disciplines such as database administration, MQ queue administration, CICS, WebSphere, IIB, and so on. This is a 3rd shift position with regular evening hours in rotating shifts.
Database administration support is available for both mainframe (Db2 z/OS & IDMS) and distributed systems (Db2 LUW, Oracle, and SQL Server), and knowledge of the z/OS, AIX, and Linux operating systems is required. As a member of a Fortune 5 company’s Database Administration team, you will collaborate with a group of talented DBAs and systems engineers who are in charge of business critical systems that use high availability solutions and where availability, reliability, and stability are critical. You will assist in ensuring that all application and business issue solutions are secure, compliant, and adhere to CVS Health’s minimum security baselines.
Middleware support includes MQ queue administration, CICS and IIB support in a capacity that serves as the enterprise’s nighttime extension, providing checkouts, starting and stopping services and queues, assisting in releases, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
The Sr Analyst, Systems Engineer also has the following additional responsibilities:
- Perform thorough checks on MQ, DB2, and IIB components in conjunction with AIX/LINUX and WINDOWS server upgrades/patches.
- After upgrading software or databases, run CICS platform functionality tests.
- Understanding of CICS operations and functionality
- Collect additional CICS diagnostics as needed in collaboration with Data Center Operations staff Level One/Two support response for offshore development requests, issues, questions, and troubleshooting
- Resolve batch job failures associated with mainframe and midrange application and infrastructure platform batch maintenance jobs.
- Resolve DB2 batch utility abends, such as image copies, changes, reorgs, unloads, and reloads.

Pay Scale
The typical salary range for this position is: Maximum: 67.31 Minimum: 33.65
Please keep in mind that this range represents the average pay for all positions in the job grade in which this position is located. The actual salary offer will consider a variety of factors, including location.
Requirements:
Qualifications Required
- 5+ years of experience in the field of information technology (IT).
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, MQ Administrator, or Middleware Engineer is required.
- Mainframe, Linux, Windows, and AIX platform experience
- Strong monitoring and detection of anomalies in various products
- Strong analytical abilities in the areas of transaction hang and abend issues
- Capabilities for product health-checking and availability
- Abend-aid, expeditor, QMON, Omegamon, and Splunk knowledge
- Support off-shift change activity with clear and concise documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Determine and resolve Database backups, file allocation/deallocation, image copies, modifies, reorgs, unloads, reloads, and other batch job failures
- Suspend/enable Oracle Listeners
- MQ Managers can be suspended or activated.
- IIB execution groups can be suspended or enabled.
- CICS Transaction Enabling/Disabling
- Move/Delete/Backup Messages on MQ
- IDMS troubleshooting Instructions
Education: In lieu of a degree, a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of equivalent IT experience is required.
