Position Description:

This opportunity will allow you to translate your data analysis skills into sustainability insights, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to co-develop industry-leading practices, and be a part of an award-winning supply chain team that values innovation as a key driver of business value. This position will directly contribute to Microsoft’s carbon-negative and zero-waste targets by 2030.

As the Sustainable Logistics Data Project Manager, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • You will have access to data on greenhouse gas emissions, air emissions, and waste for benchmarking, reporting, and strategic insights.
  • You will use environmental data to evaluate the potential implications of proposed business actions and give recommendations to leadership on how to include sustainability in decision making.
  • You will create and improve new and existing sustainability data governance procedures, report on progress and results, and use dashboards to illustrate supply chain analysis. You will assist in the enablement and implementation of new sustainable logistics projects such as sustainable packaging, mode shifting, network design, and so on.
  • You will use tools and processes as directed to manage logistics sustainability data and provide recommendations to top leadership. You will evaluate logistics sustainability using existing models and assure compliance with internal and external rules and frameworks such as the GLEC, the GHG Protocol, and so on.
  • By conducting analyses, you will demonstrate creativity and curiosity in exploring opportunities to introduce new technologies and contribute to long-term strategy. You’ll gain technical knowledge that you can use to find possibilities for improvement with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications/Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, statistics, or a related discipline, plus 4+ years of supply chain or logistics experience o OR comparable experience.

  • This function requires the ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening criteria. This includes, but is not limited to, the following specialist security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: At hire/transfer and every two years thereafter, this position will be needed to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • A master’s degree in business/MBA, economics, sustainability, environmental science, or similar experience is required.
  • Advanced understanding of the SQL, PowerBI, and Coupa (Llamasoft) systems
  • Accounting/reporting of waste or packaging AND knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Excel advanced knowledge and next-generation data platforms
  • Knowledge of impact assessment approaches and frameworks
  • Working knowledge of sustainability professionals
  • A growth mindset combined with problem-solving abilities, as well as keen data insights
  • Working experience in a big matrixed organization Proven track record of generating results via deep and resourceful cooperation
  • Capable of interpreting sustainability data and anecdotal feedback, as well as synthesizing and explaining it to others Convey our goals and objectives to stakeholders and leaders in a clear and simple manner.
