Position Description

LanguageLine Solutions is seeking experienced work-at-home Hindi-English video-phone interpreters who can help break down language barriers and bridges the gap between Hindi and English speakers. As a Hindi video-telephone interpreter, you will deliver interpretation services in a friendly and professional manner to help improve the experience of limited-English speakers and members of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community.

Responsibilities

– Handle inbound and outbound calls, conduct interpretation in a professional and courteous manner, and provide meaning of conversations between Hindi and English speakers.
– Work under different industries that LanguageLine Solutions serves, including healthcare, finance, government, insurance, utilities, travel, hospitality, and emergency services.
– Recognize sensitive cultural differences, maintain punctuality, follow client instructions, and ensure that client expectations are met.
– Remain calm during emergency situations and speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
– Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions, maintain a high level of accuracy, and provide cultural competency.
– Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
– Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

– Fluency in Hindi and English, knowledge of associated cultural dynamics, and the ability to assess regional and accent differences.
– Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
– Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, or translation preferable.
– Ability to adapt to new LanguageLine Solutions technology enhancements that improve service delivery and meet client demands.
– Legally authorized to work in the United States and be at least 18 years of age.
– High school diploma or equivalent.
– Candidates who are currently employed by a client of LanguageLine Solutions or an affiliated LanguageLine Solutions business may not be eligible for consideration.
– Ability to read and write the requested languages is highly preferred.

Technical Requirements:

– High-speed Internet connection, download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps and upload speeds of 3 Mbps.
– Quiet home office space free from background noise and distraction.
– A direct connection from the modem to the desktop or laptop, cable, or fiber-optic services preferred. Satellite service is not permissible.
– Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position in front of a computer and webcam the majority of the workday.
– Use of a headset for prolonged periods of time.
