Position Description
Databricks is searching for a customer-facing Solutions Architect (SA) having commendable experience in Data Engineering. As an SA, you will help customers to design, implement and integrate big data solutions on Databricks’ Lakehouse Platform addressing their business requirements. You must have production-level experience with Apache Spark and proficiency in other data technologies. You will be working alongside and supporting Solution Architects. You will provide guidance to customers on design, implementation of essential workloads, and align their technical roadmap for expanding the usage of the platform. Additionally, this role will allow for continued mentoring, learning, and extensive training programs to keep abreast of the latest technology and establish you as a specialist in your area of expertise, such as streaming, performance tuning, or industry experience.
Responsibilities
– Architect production-level data pipelines; implement end-to-end pipeline load performance testing and optimization
– Offering technical support on strategic projects from architectural design to data engineering to model deployment
– Assist Solution Architects in custom proof of concept content, workload sizing estimation, and custom architectures
– Provide tutorials and training for the Databricks community to improve platform adoption
– Contribute to the Databricks Community
– Perspective of a deep go-to-expert reporting to the Specialist Field Engineering Manager.
Qualifications
– Over five years of experience in a customer-facing technical role with expertise in either Data Engineer or Data Applications Engineer
– Extensive experience building data pipelines and using big data technologies such as Spark/Delta or Hadoop
– Production programming knowledge in SQL and Python, Scala, or Java
– Deep Specialty Expertise in at least one of the following areas:
– Experience scaling big data workloads that are performant and cost-effective
– Experience with Development Tools for CI/CD, Unit and Integration testing, Automation and Orchestration, REST API, BI tools, and SQL Interfaces (e.g. Jenkins)
– Experience designing data solutions on cloud infrastructure and services, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP using best practices in cloud security and networking
– Experience implementing industry specific data analytics use cases
– Possess a degree in a quantitative discipline (Desired)
– Capability to travel up to 30% when required.
