Our New Product team comes up with new products for our business to sell. As new products are made, unmet care management and clinical needs are still very important.

As a Senior Manager of Product Development, you will be in charge of the new products made by the new product department, with a focus on our care management and chronic condition programs. This includes our new Aetna One Care portfolio as well as coverage for long-term conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. You will be in charge of the product management process, which includes product gating, review, improvements, and overall product performance.

The person who gets the job has a lot of experience with health care strategy, clinical unmet needs, product development, and working in a matrix organization. Also, your success will depend on how well you’ve done in the commercial business, especially in the areas of national accounts and key accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses in-depth knowledge and understanding of clinical products across functions and market segments to lead the development and implementation of new solution initiatives, including improvements.
  • Leads, evaluates, and gives requirements and specifications for the use of the right business processes and systems to support care management and chronic condition product initiatives.
  • Learn as much as you can about the internal and external environment and the pressures from competitors so you can improve your care management and chronic condition product portfolio.
  • Make sure customers get good products so that commercial business and product’s organizational goals can be met.
  • Know and track the most important financial performance indicators to make sure your portfolio is doing well.

Set up and manage large (or important) cross-functional work groups for development and implementation. Plan ahead for the resources you will need, set priorities, assign responsibilities, define roles and responsibilities, and manage relationships to get the resources you need that are not directly under your control.

  • May take part in and/or run focus group sessions, broker briefings, or one-on-one meetings with consultants, brokers, general agents, and/or employer groups to get customer feedback.
  • Be in charge of product performance management reviews, such as product rationalization, optimization, and a possible end of life
  • Watch over the creation of the business case

Pay Range

The usual range of pay for this job is: Minimum: 75,400 Maximum: 162,700

Please keep in mind that this range is the pay range for all jobs in the same job grade as this position. The actual salary offer will depend on a lot of things, like where the job is.

Requirements:

  • I have worked for 7 years (graduate level education may substitute)
  • Work with commercial health insurance
  • 5 years of experience running a project or team.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Having experience with product development and/or management is preferred
  • Must have worked with clients; MBA preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
