  • The Technical Team of the Technology Division includes this position.
  • This position will provide a setting where teams use Agile and DevOps approaches to develop platform application solutions that satisfy customer requirements for timeliness, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This leader will promote a culture of continuous learning and career development in order to create an atmosphere that is favorable to becoming more agile.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the development of technological target roadmaps by working with business and IT leadership to establish and communicate system vision, direction, and work priorities.
  • Assures the implementation and use of appropriate agile project management, business analysis, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Removes obstacles, builds partnerships, and communicates clearly across the enterprise at various leadership levels
  • Leads, sways, and upholds technological norms
  • Displays an internal development process with a continual improvement perspective, as well as how applications help the operational flow of business processes.
  • Uses best practices for software development to create and implement procedures that uphold quality standards while meeting deadlines
  • Determining the amount of time and resources required for development activities, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately, and ensuring that the deliverables fulfill business requirements
  • Participates in the department’s capital planning and budgeting processes.
  • Manages and monitors project/program budgets and schedules with the relevant controller(s).
  • Oversees and coordinates the adoption of new and emerging technologies.
  • To assure visibility and predictability, maintains an effective approach to problem solving, multitasking, coordinating, and scheduling.
  • Project managers, business analysts, quality assurance specialists, and developers are developed and mentored. A high-performing team atmosphere is led, inspired, and fostered.
  • Oversees communication, coordination, and off-hours help for production concerns.
  • Periodically puts in extra time depending on the demands of the project and the business
  • Travels as necessary

Requirements:

Basic requirements include education and previous work experience.

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, information systems (CIS/MIS), computer science, or a closely related technical field, or comparable experience or training
  • Designing, developing, and implementing large-scale systems in hosted production settings over ten years, including the whole Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • 7 years of experience managing complex IT initiatives from idea to completion in an office setting
  • 5 years of experience using ITIL, Agile, XP, or comparable techniques to achieve SDLC solutions

Previous work experience and education are preferred qualifications.

Experience working in the airline industry, including knowledge of business procedures and supporting technology, plus a master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, technology, information systems (CIS/MIS), engineering, or a closely related technical field

Knowledge, Permits, and Certifications

  • Knowledge of how to find, select, develop, and inspire technical experts who can collaborate to achieve deadlines and swiftly get beyond challenges
  • Strong leadership ability in converting teams to be more nimble in delivering business capabilities; expertise leading a team of persons with varying degrees of skills and experience in potentially high stress and tough situations, across many geographic regions.
  • A capacity for good collaboration with other executives both within and beyond business teams in IT
  • Experience managing “mission-critical” projects and migrations as well as providing support for them
  • A track record of delivering products and solutions, along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, technological solutions, and business domains.
  • Proven initiative, flexibility, and capacity to adjust to shifting priorities and work settings. Shown ability to work in a mission-critical, nonstop, real-time environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to thrive in an atmosphere of urgency and to make use of best practices
  • The capacity to make informed decisions with good judgment and initiative
  • An in-depth knowledge of the techniques and procedures used across the full systems development life cycle employing different methodologies, as well as the ability to manage competing objectives and customer expectations in a fast-paced operational environment (agile, lean, waterfall)
  • Excellent technical background with knowledge of design patterns, best practices, and object-oriented programming, as well as common data structures and algorithms
  • experience with the architecture and design of the Siebel CRM platform
  • IT hygiene (EOSL, patching, DR compliance, and technical debt) is a focus area in a balanced delivery track record Work experience with Agile project management approaches and technologies
  • Expertise in DevOps Toolchain techniques, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • Experience managing financial budgets Experience reviewing and approving contracts and statements of work for vendor partners, internal vendor management groups, and legal
  • A track record of successfully managing various projects, job streams, and demands
