Position Description

Zurich Insurance Group is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Energy Casualty Underwriting Specialist to join our team in Houston, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for handling guaranteed cost and loss sensitive complex energy accounts while building relationships with our Preferred Distribution Partners. The right candidate will get an opportunity to hone their underwriting and marketing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide a customer-focused approach to improve the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best solution for their insurance needs.
• Apply a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
• Collaborate with teams across the business units, including claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting.
• Build relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory using market-facing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the underwriting or Market facing area. Or high school diploma or equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 3 or more years of experience in the underwriting or market facing area. Or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 8 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Technical casualty knowledge of guaranteed cost and large deductible energy programs
• Should have established broker relationships (retail brokers) within the Houston area.
• Strong sales execution mindset.
• Ability to solve problems in a creative way.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
