The Senior Data Engineer collaborates with multiple CVS Health business units and cross-functional teams to provide engineering solutions for products designed to meet business and data science requirements.

Working with many stakeholders, the Senior Data Engineer of Data Engineering will be responsible for all deliverables from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

• Creates extensive data pipelines and structures to gather, organize, and standardize data in order to meet reporting requirements and produce insights.
• Creates tools for offline and real-time analytical processing, builds database systems, and writes ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
• Works with the data science team to automate operations by transforming data and incorporating models and algorithms.
• Utilizes expertise in Hadoop, the Cloud, and design and optimization
• Queries to create pipelines for data
• Possesses strong Python programming abilities or proficiency in any other major language to create dynamic systems and reliable data pipelines.
• Creates data models and marts to assist Data Science and other internal clients. incorporates data from multiple sources while making sure it complies with accessibility and data quality requirements.
• Examines the settings of information technology today to determine what is essential, evaluates it, and makes recommendations for improvements
• Experiments using current tools and recommendations for new tools to find the best solution given the model/use case needs
• This position may be filled remotely full-time or onsite/hybrid, three days a week in the Hartford, Connecticut office.

Requirements:

Essential Requirements

• With at than five years of relevant expertise in data engineering
• 5+ years of SQL experience
• 5+ years of Python experience
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP desirable)
• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills

Optimal Qualifications

• Familiarity with PySpark, Hive, or Hadoop
• Hands-on experience with Tableau reporting
• Knowing the health care sector is advantageous.

Instruction

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, machine learning, or a similar field, or comparable work experience
• Preferred is a master’s degree
