Responsibilities:
The Senior Coordinator, Substance Testing Programs job reports directly to the Regional Manager, Substance Testing Programs, and collaborates with team members to implement the many types of drug and alcohol testing required by Delta and the FAA/DOT.
Depending on the location, the number of tests, and the operational and program requirements, the Sr. Coordinator’s specific duties, responsibilities, and requirements may change or be added.
- Responsible for administering drug and alcohol tests for safety-sensitive employees as required by Delta and the FAA/DOT, including random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, pre-employment, follow-up, and return to duty. responsible for ensuring that non-safety sensitive staff undergo all necessary testing, such as post-accident, return to duty, and reasonable suspicion.
- It is necessary to successfully finish, keep up with, and show that you are proficient in the necessary training, which includes keeping your DOT Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)/Collector certification unrestricted. Offer testing services that are private, legal, adaptable, and timely.
- Create and oversee the scheduling of any FAA/DOT random tests that call for coordinating the availability of the Coordinators and the selected personnel. Handle notice and collection for all FAA/DOT random testing, which necessitates hand-delivering notifications to specific workers scattered over the work area regularly throughout the shift.
- As certified Breath Alcohol Technicians (BAT) and Calibration Technicians, serve as subject matter experts within Substance Testing Programs for operating an NHTSA evidentiary breath testing instrument (EBT).
- By outlining the steps required to complete testing, prepare donors for the breath alcohol screening and confirmatory tests.
- Respond in a timely and appropriate manner to funders, STP leaders, and other operational or human resources leaders as necessary.
- Make that the test site’s infrastructure is safe and completely compliant.
- Serve as the main point of contact between Delta officials in various departments and Substance Testing Programs for concerns relating to DOT and non-DOT testing regulations and procedures.
- Each drug and alcohol test must be certified in accordance with the guidelines outlined in 49 CFR Parts 40 and 120 of the U.S. Department of Transportation regulation.
- Ensure DOT and Delta standards are the same throughout various areas and places.
- Interact as necessary with the providers of clinical services, medical review officers, laboratories, and Federal enforcement inspectors. Likewise, communicate on all levels with staff members and leaders.
- Based on operational needs, the incumbent is in charge of working variable hours, including weekends, holidays, and after hours, while keeping in mind that the position supports a 24-hour, seven-day operation. When necessary, you must be willing to follow federal law’s mandate to conduct same-gender direct observations of specimen production.
- Take care with private and sensitive information.
- To guarantee the safety of donors and collectors and prevent cross contamination, follow and abide by regulatory regulations when sanitizing the drug testing area, as well as when collecting and shipping specimens.
- Act as a point of contact for the tested personnel, guiding them to the testing location and providing information on the testing procedure and the program as a whole.
- Manage follow-up cases including DOT and non-DOT for a maximum of five years after SAP has finished its examination.
- Perform pre-employment drug tests on workers moving into roles that require attention to safety.
- Based on operational needs, travel, including overnight travel, is necessary to conduct testing services.
