Responsibilities:

The Developer Productivity & Experience team has an open opportunity for a senior cloud engineer. This position is in charge of facilitating the enterprise’s adoption of Development & DevSecOps practices through the creation, supervision, and maintenance of cutting-edge development tools as well as the facilitation of Delta’s cloud migration. This position is essential to the developer’s satisfaction, productivity, and availability. This team member will also take part in organizing and directing training courses on the best ways to use DevSecOps tools and Cloud Native techniques. This job might be in Atlanta, Georgia, or Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Requirements:

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM)

The Senior Cloud Engineer role requires at least five years of practical experience with cloud-related and/or DevSecOps-related technologies, with a preference for ten years of software and development experience. Candidate must be solution-focused, applying rigorous logic and techniques to resolve complex issues with workable solutions while searching all possible sources for information. The ideal candidate will be able to produce dependable code, design APIs, be at ease with refactoring, test-driven development, design patterns, abstractions, documentation creation, and the full software development life cycle. The candidate must be able to successfully communicate with all levels of employees and management and possess strong written and verbal abilities. Additionally, the candidate must be a self-learner with the capacity to pick up new technologies and think creatively to come up with fresh approaches to challenges that appear insurmountable.

  • Strong fundamental Unix abilities and a thorough understanding of Linux systems are needed. ought to be familiar with Unix shell scripting.
  • Good working understanding of the Git, Groovy, Kotlin, Gerrit, Maven/Gradle, Docker, Nexus, Artifactory, Selenium, and Python environments for build automation and continuous integration/delivery.
  • Capable of leading training sessions on business tools and best practices
  • Make use of Open-Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, as well as a range of AWS tools and services.
  • Knowing how to use the 12-factor process, being able to explain its advantages to others in the team, and having experience using it
  • Experience with build tools, CI/CD, DevOps, and agile principles are requirements

WHAT (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS) WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE

Degree in science or technology, preferably a BS or MS. 7 years of minimum software and development experience, with at least 5 of those years being spent actively using DevSecOps technologies. Be able to work in a technology environment that moves quickly and connect with product owners, business analysts, software engineers, and testers.

  • Understanding of and expertise in the travel industry
  • Certification in DevOps, Developer, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Ideally, they should be familiar with the TOGAF or AWS well-architected framework and be able to use those concepts when creating a solution.
  • Knowledge on how to reduce the cost of cloud services used
  • Having knowledge of open-source frameworks
  • Knowledge in creating and maintaining cloud-based apps (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Knowledge of maintaining production environments
  • Prioritizes consensus-building over compromise and alignment when making decisions

Working familiarity with:

  • Tools for managing configurations, such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.
  • Identity, SAML, single sign-on, federated security, IAM, etc.
  • Networking, firewalls, virtual private networks, VPNs, and DNS OSI Layers c.
  • Technologies for recording and monitoring infrastructure and application activity (New Relic, Splunk, etc.
