ZORA is looking for a senior accountant with experience who can help internalize the accounting department and take full responsibility for the day-to-day accounting. Extra points if you are knowledgeable in crypto accounting or eager to learn more!

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining the books and carrying out regular accounting tasks (AR/AP, cash reconciliation, Crypto Cost Accounting, Accruals, Monthly Close, Tax, Payroll, Audit (future), and any special projects) are your responsibility.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis to oversee the creation and integrity of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements that comply with GAAP.
• To improve the monthly close and ensure timely and accurate reporting, especially when dealing with cryptocurrency transactions, establish, document, and maintain suitable and effective accounting controls and regulations.
• Establish internal controls and safety measures to protect firm assets, authorized expense payments, contract compliance, and company policy compliance.
• A desire to enhance current procedures, automate tasks, and eliminate unnecessary reporting
• Help with the annual budgeting process, and instruct and mentor teams on how to distribute/plan funds.
• Serve as our company’s principal point of contact with our external tax consultants and auditors and manage these interactions to uphold compliance and guarantee readiness for due diligence
• Cross-functionally help other departments while serving as a reliable partner and teammate

Requirements:

• A CPA license
• 3 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience, with a combination of audit, startup, and public experience
• To work during American business hours (PST, Mountain time, CST or EST)
• A working knowledge of fintech, consumer internet, e-commerce, or related technology fields
• A self-starter who is driven to build new, scalable procedures and find the best possible methods for accomplishing things
• I’m motivated and eager to work on creating an accounting and finance department that is effective and scalable, including its OKRs and KPIs (full cycle experience)
• Knowledge of internal controls, financial reporting, and GAAP in-depth Experience registering for and filing state sales taxes
• Excellent sense of independence, organization, and teamwork; punctual
• High level of detail-orientedness and superior critical thinking
• Good communication abilities, particularly the capacity to explain financial outcomes and variations.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets
• Experience with QBO, Bill.com, Brex, Gusto, Integral, and Bitwave as part of our technology stack
• Readiness to learn about NFTs, art, cryptocurrencies, and anything web3 Motivated by our purpose and the challenge of working in a fast-paced setting
• Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting as a BA or BS
• The capacity to own and develop all accounting functions
