Position Description

Aviacode is seeking a skilled SDS and OBS facility medical coding specialist to join their team. As a medical coding specialist, you will be responsible for assigning appropriate and accurate codes to all the assigned charts of outpatient surgery. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that all diseases, operations, and procedures are coded according to the client’s specifications. The ideal candidate would possess at least 3 years of experience in coding and should hold RHIT, RHIA, CCS AHIMA credential or COC AAPC credential. This is a full-time role with a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

– Assign appropriate and accurate codes to all assigned charts
– Ensure accuracy of diagnosis code assignment per client and company policies
– Maintain productivity levels per client and company policies
– Report maintenance with integrity by ensuring that all data is entered and recorded as directed
– Initiate physician queries in compliance with the company’s specific procedures
– Keep current on all company and client coding policies and procedures
– Comply with HIPAA and company policies concerning patient data
– Communicate in a responsible manner according to company policies

Qualifications

– RHIT, RHIA, CCS AHIMA credential or COC AAPC credential required
– 3+ years in coding experience in a facility setting with SDS and OBS
– Excellent knowledge of ICD-10 coding
– Knowledge of Interventional Radiology and Injection & Infusion coding
– Experience with Healthcare abstracting software ICD-10 data sets and encoder (3M & Cerner)
