Position Description

UnitedHealth Group is looking for a remote system administrator to join their Optum State Government Solutions (OSGS) System Administration Center of Excellence team. As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for configuration, management, and maintenance of application components across OSGS book of business. This includes working on large server farms across Windows 2019 Server, Windows 7 Desktop, Red hat Linux, and Oracle Linux environments.

Responsibilities

– Install and configure application components of solutions
– Serve as a technical resource for complex and/or critical issues related to application and server performance
– Upgrade and manage servers in Windows and Unix environments
– Manage all scheduled maintenance tasks across all servers, in support of service level agreements
– Provide technical and end-user support to clients via telephone and ticketing system
– Submit change control for all scheduled maintenance
– Ensure security compliance according to State and Federal security policies and regulations
– Validate and support disaster recovery plan for all server and application components of OSGS State contracts
– Work on projects related to Informatica, Tableau Server, OpenText BI Query, SAP Business Objects, The SAS System, and Erwin Standard Edition

Qualifications

– 5+ years of system administration experience with Windows and Unix
– 5+ years of Linux systems administration, maintenance, and security
– Experience managing high availability virtual environments utilizing VMWare
– Working knowledge of scripting and automation tools like Python/Shell/Perl
– Solid understanding of TCP/IP and networking fundamentals
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
