Position Description

Path Mental Health, a healthtech company committed to revolutionizing mental healthcare, is seeking a Senior Health Information Technician who is conscientious, detail-oriented, and has comprehensive knowledge of medical records required for substance use and mental health treatment.

As the Senior Health Information Technician, you will be accountable for ensuring that the medical records of our patients are handled appropriately and released only to authorized personnel. You will also be responsible for coordinating care by reviewing medical records and providing them to healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

– Provide excellent customer service to requestors for health information
– Ensure that all Release of Information documentation is in compliance with regulatory requirements and HIPAA standards
– Identify the required medical records for audits, billing, release of information, or EHR review
– Collect relevant information electronically from the EHR and deliver the records following defined procedures
– Use your extensive knowledge of regulations and guidelines related to applicable mental health and substance use treatment records to perform job duties in compliance with these standards

Qualifications

– Relevant experience: Minimum of three years of experience releasing medical records. Previous experience in the mental health or substance use treatment domain is an added advantage.
– Analytical mindset: Be able to review requests and properly bring sensitive requests to the attention of leadership (i.e sensitive audit requests, state regulatory requests, court cases, etc.)
– Knowledge of Content: Ideally, a current active Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification or degree candidate in Health Information Management program is highly desired.
