Position Description

The Zillow Experience Design team is looking for a Principal Product Designer for Rich Media Experiences. The job is full-time and will allow you to design digital experiences that are translatable across web, iOS, Android, and operator platforms. As the Principal Product Designer for Rich Media Experiences, you will work collaboratively with product managers, researchers, content designers, applied scientists, and engineers. Your responsibilities include leading design activities, proposing, testing, and evaluating ideas to improve Zillow customer experiences.
You should be an expert in designing delightful and authentic digital experiences to support customers in the purchase, rental, sale, or discovery of their homes. An ideal candidate for this role would have proficiency in human-centered design principles and leverage emerging technology to develop rich customer experiences.

Responsibilities

– Designing digital experiences for web, iOS, Android, and operator platforms
– Advocating for customer needs and ensuring that designs address customer goals
– Leading design activities like problem definition, storytelling, journey mapping, co-design sessions, prototyping, design critique, and user testing
– Building detailed information architecture, interaction models, and UI patterns
– Presenting design work and engaging with partners regularly for feedback
– Leading multiple projects independently and delivering high-quality work on-time
– Partnering with other designers to ensure design consistency and excellence
– Sharing expertise and mentorship to help others develop skills
– Contributing, learning, growing, and having fun!

Qualifications

– Strong communication and collaboration skills
– 7+ years as a product designer, user experience designer, design lead, or similar role
– Experience building relationships and working optimally with diverse, cross-functional teams
– Experience developing tools and frameworks to help teams work better together
– Experience identifying customer insights through user research and discovery activities
– Experience developing design strategies that address customer and business problems
– Experience crafting products and services using human-centered design principles
– Experience shipping products that get meaningful results for customers and businesses
– Experience making effective decisions and managing design project work
– Examples of high-quality interaction and visual design work in a design portfolio
– Examples of critical thinking, creativity, and risk-taking in design projects
– Expertise in interaction design, visual design, and other user experience fields
– Expertise with Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar design and prototyping tools
