The Senior Payroll Specialist will be in charge of process improvement, compliance audits, and correct payroll processing.

Responsibilities:

  • In charge of autonomously overseeing multi-state payroll and associated tasks, such as determining and documenting payroll deductions, payroll advances, commissions, bonus runs, computation of wages and overtime, reporting fringe benefits, and separation payments.
  • In charge of all payroll-related tasks, such as processing payroll, setting up and maintaining taxes, configuring payroll in HRIS, reporting, and compliance audits
  • These systems could be ADP, PayChex, Paycom, Paylocity, Paycor, and Kronos, among others.
  • Will be essential to the implementation and conversion of payroll and time and attendance systems.
  • This position necessitates a keen eye for detail, a passion for streamlining procedures, and a commitment to offering workers outstanding customer service.
  • This position is a crucial addition to the HR department, offering technical payroll operations skills, tax audit process knowledge, and a thorough grasp of the whole payroll processing lifecycle.
  • Organize the submission of HSAs and 401(k) contributions by accurately entering data into vendor portals.
  • Benefit deductions are audited and reviewed. Verify the delayed deductions for employees by reconciling them with election and enrollment data found on carrier sites.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for streamlining procedures and identifying issues
  • When necessary, prepare manual payments.
  • Make that wage and hour laws at the federal, state, and local levels are followed.
  • Examine timesheets and leave requests, and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Make sure the submission is accurate and on time, and make sure there is complete compliance verification.
  • Immediately resolve disparities to maintain the integrity of the program.
  • Determine where the payroll and benefits systems need to be improved, then suggest best practices.
  • Work together with the finance and HR departments to resolve problems as they arise and streamline processes, making sure that the organization’s agreed-upon fixes are implemented and maintained successfully.
  • Make that tax configurations are current with employee changes and compliant.
  • Finalize the quarterly and monthly audits (payroll, benefits, 401k, etc.)
  • Examine paper mail items, make any necessary updates to pertinent information, and forward to the appropriate teams.
  • Additional duties, programs, and endeavors as needed

Requirements:

  • Seven to ten years of experience handling payroll in a specialized role across several states and regions
  • Practical understanding of taxes, payroll processing, compliance, and auditing
  • Demonstrated aptitude for streamlining procedures and identifying issues
  • Preferably, a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a similar discipline
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) familiarity
  • Experience in delivering first-rate customer service is necessary.

For this position, the average base salary ranges across the country from $30.00 to $40.00 per hour. Your location, professional experience, education, abilities, and credentials all affect your base wage.
