Position Description

BD is seeking a Patient Collections Representative II for reviewing balances and collecting payments for patients. The selected candidate will have to investigate billing inquiries and communicate any findings correctly and effectively. Besides, they would support inbound calls, document patient accounts of billing status, and have a clear understanding of Medicare guidelines.

Responsibilities

– Review open patient account balances and call the patients to collect payment.
– Investigate the patient billing inquiries and communicate any findings in an effective manner.
– Assist with inbound calls to support and handle patient inquiries.
– Accurately document patient accounts of actions taken to collect payment or of billing status.
– Understand and ensure that Medicare guidelines are being followed and payer requirements are met.
– Identify trends and report them to the leadership for potential resolution.
– Maintain a positive work atmosphere and uphold BD Core Values.
– Work with standard production and quality expectations for the department’s success.

Qualifications

– High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
– They must have at least 1 year of outbound patient collection experience.
– The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to listen to and de-escalate heightened conversations effectively.
– They must have knowledge of insurance EOBs and denial reasoning.
– The candidate must have the ability to navigate and enter data into various electronic systems accurately.
– They should have good organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
– Individuals must work independently, be flexible and creative in solving problems.
– They must have basic math skills and knowledge of PC skills, including moderate knowledge of Excel.
– It would be preferred to have experience using call center telecommunications software, including outbound dialer, and reviewing and comprehending medical records.
– The candidate should have functioning internet capabilities as they would be required to work remotely.
– They must work from 8:30 – 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
