As an operations engineer, you will create and implement the newest sortation and distribution technologies while leading and managing the lifespan of difficult cross-functional projects. As a customer-focused leader, you will be crucial to the design and execution of the facility network infrastructure, which includes program initiatives, additions, retrofits, and new construction. Among your essential tasks will be collaborating as a team with internal customers and external/internal stakeholders to guarantee a timely handover.
You will collaborate with some of the world’s most brilliant engineers as an operations engineer at Amazon as they design, develop, and implement physical distribution networks all around the world. In order to accomplish project objectives, you must properly manage a technology or integration project. In addition to having a thorough understanding of the design methodologies and industry technology applied in fulfillment and distribution center designs, you may collaborate directly with clients, partners, or sellers of outside equipment. You oversee the entire schedule, proactively mitigate risks, and maintain control over the scope of technical deliverables in order to fulfill deadlines and minimize disruption to support teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the lifespan of difficult projects successfully on your own, working with internal and external teams. Take ownership of achieving project goals and targets. In order to serve corporate goals, projects may span organizations or geographical boundaries.
- Take an active part in firm engineering evaluations and have a real influence on the solutions that are suggested for a system or a subsystem, the system architecture as a whole, and the facility procedures.
- Assist in establishing milestones, driving schedules to achieve deadlines, and setting project priorities in collaboration with internal teams, stakeholders, and outside vendors. Evaluate stakeholders’ dependencies and milestones in a proactive manner, fix problems, and spearhead solutions to lessen the effects of the concerns.
- Take the lead in organizing and coordinating all execution activities to produce automated equipment and systems designs in accordance with rules and regulations. Install systems and equipment and meet safety, throughput, and equipment requirements. While fixing challenging system issues or technical shortcomings, simplify, optimize, eliminate bottlenecks, and offer feedback.
- Establish goals, seat the appropriate people in the room, and facilitate in-depth business and technical discussions and alignment to facilitate productive meetings. Make sure that expectations between internal partner teams and external vendors are aligned by documenting meeting discussions, decisions, and next steps.
- Communicate project progress, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies in a timely and accurate manner. Provide clear and succinct project reports to the leadership/management team on a regular basis. Ability to respond to project questions in a detailed and efficient manner.
- Effectively communicate system and/or equipment designs, including layouts, functional capabilities, and technical requirements, to partner teams and internal customers.
- Manage purchase orders, invoice validation/approvals, and change order controls effectively.
- Proficient in establishing trusting working connections with both external and internal stakeholders on a variety of initiatives.
- Find and oversee process improvement projects that raise the efficiency of the engineering and cross-teams and maximize the value and output of the teams. Work together to produce efficient, high-quality solutions in a shorter amount of time.
- Travel between 30 and 80 percent of the time within the country, while the amount of time spent traveling can vary and span up to three weeks, including weekends.

Requirements:
PRIMARY QUALIFCATIONS
- 3+ years of experience as a project engineer, process engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer, or in a related field – Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or another STEM field – Experience managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects, implementing automated equipment, and/or integrated systems
- Possess CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.) experience
DESIDERED SPECIFICATIONS
- An advanced degree in engineering, business administration, operations, or a related STEM field; experience in operations management or distribution centers, including direct management of personnel or oversight of automation, material handling, or other technical projects; familiarity with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Smartsheet tools – Expertise in designing and executing automation solutions, including robotic work cells, conveyors, sorters, high-speed production and packing lines
- Demonstrated technical program or project leadership in industrial engineering
