Position Description

Capella University is currently looking for an experienced Online Assistant Faculty to support our instructional faculty by working with students in online classrooms. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of accounting and possess teaching experience. The position requires the applicant to work up to 28 hours per week for Sunday through Wednesday.

Responsibilities

The duties of the Online Assistant Faculty in Accounting include analyzing student activity, communicating with students using the online learning platform (Canvas), assisting in managing student communications, grading assignments, monitoring student engagement, and escalating unique student issues to the master instructor. Other responsibilities, as assigned according to university policies and procedures, are also expected.

Qualifications

The ideal Online Assistant Faculty in Accounting candidate must have an earned Doctorate in Accounting, or a Doctorate in a Business-related discipline from an accredited institution. They must have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in accounting, with previous online teaching experience with adult learners in Accounting 1 or 2. CPA is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills, and the ability to lead group discussions are among the required job skills. Finally, the applicant must possess strong mental acuity and be able to manage potential stressful situations professionally and ethically.
