The creation of Delta’s internal and external financial statements, as well as the investigation and analysis of complex accounting issues, are principally under the purview of the Financial Reporting department. Senior management, division finance, investor relations, legal, financial planning and analysis, treasury, refinery finance staff, and internal/external auditors are among the parties with which the department frequently communicates.

Responsibilities:

A Manager of Technical Accounting is needed. The job performs a leadership function in ensuring the accuracy of Delta’s financial accounts. The ideal applicant will:

  • Evaluate the consequences of complicated transactions for technical accounting and financial reporting. Create and examine technical accounting memoranda to support our position in accounting.
  • Be a reliable business partner and cooperate with different company stakeholders. Successfully convey accounting-related issues to company partners, making sure that pertinent accounting problems are found and fixed.
  • Recap important technical accounting issues and explain their effects to executive management and outside auditors.
  • In collaboration with executive management, prepare and assemble quarterly Audit Committee presentations.
  • Assist in the creation of the financial statements for Delta’s subsidiaries, other regulatory filings, and Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Help with the application of new accounting rules and their interpretation.
  • Work together with various teams across the organization to develop, solidify, and implement Delta’s accounting policies.
  • Verify that internal controls are operating in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for financial reporting.
  • Work together with Delta’s internal and external auditors to guarantee a smooth audit process.
  • Encourage team members to develop certain abilities, attitudes, and knowledge in order to maintain performance and get ready for future tasks.
  • Create strategic and tactical plans that foster a safety-conscious culture and promote the safety and wellbeing of employees.

Requirements:

IMPORTANT ITEMS FOR SUCCESS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Authorized CPA
  • 7+ years of cumulative experience in corporate financial reporting for a public company and/or public accounting with one of the Big 4 or other leading firms
  • Knowledge of GAAP and SEC financial reporting and disclosure requirements at a high level
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and communication abilities (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a collaborative atmosphere; attention to detail; capacity to manage numerous tasks at once; ability to focus on deadlines.
