Join dbt Labs as a Digital Community Engagement Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the dbt Community across the globe. This dynamic position focuses on developing and implementing the digital community strategy using platforms like Slack and Discourse. Your responsibilities will involve engaging with community members, managing online communities, and driving digital engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance the dbt Community’s reputation as a welcoming and helpful part of the data ecosystem.
  • Engage with community members online, answering questions and highlighting valuable contributions from others.
  • Manage the global dbt Slack and Discourse communities, including growing the Slack community through digital engagement plans.
  • Collaborate with the web team to create compelling copy to attract users to join our community platforms.
  • Research industry news and dbt product updates to stay informed.
  • Regularly audit and review Slack and Discourse channels, making decisions on archiving inactive ones and creating new, desirable channels.
  • Work with community champions to appoint channel moderators and enforce guidelines.
  • Report on digital membership and engagement metrics, identifying trends for improvement.
  • Gather feedback from the dbt Community to inform other teams through surveys, office hours, and focus groups.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external partners, facilitating collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Experience working remotely within a distributed team.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and dbt (1+ year experience preferred).
  • Previous experience in digital marketing, engagement, or community roles.
  • Enthusiasm for connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and roles.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical topics.
  • Problem-solving mindset and a curiosity-driven approach.

Additional Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Active involvement in the dbt community.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $140,000-180,000 USD (for US-based applicants; salary may differ for Canada-based applicants).
