To join our Field Communications Team, Amazon is looking for a highly educated, highly judgmental, self-motivated, and creative communications expert.
Responsibilities:
In your role as a regional public relations manager, you will assist in overseeing Amazon’s hyperlocal strategic external communications, particularly in New England. The ideal applicant would be situated in Boston, be able to travel frequently to other Amazon locations in the region, and have a network of contacts with local media, stakeholders, and community leaders that they can quickly cultivate.
You will require outstanding initiative, outstanding writing skills, remarkable initiative, and a collaborative capability to succeed in this profession. As the face of Amazon in your region and an on-record spokesman, you should possess the ease and confidence that comes with handling high levels of work under pressure. It’s essential to have the flexibility and creativity to leap into initiatives when necessary.
Principal duties of the position
- Provide communications advice to internal executives on short- and long-term challenges and opportunities;
- Write, develop, and oversee approvals for news releases, media advisories, fact sheets, and related media materials for Amazon’s operations business;
- Successfully manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges;
- Develop and oversee the execution of external media engagement programs in cities with Amazon sites, such as high-visibility building milestone events, community donations with local elected officials, and other media relations activities
- Proven ability to collaborate with teams comprising a variety of stakeholders;
- Capable of speaking for Amazon as a spokesperson in print, radio, and television

Requirements:
PRIMARY QUALIFCATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a similar discipline;
- At least seven years of recent professional experience in communications or PR
DESIDERED SPECIFICATIONS
- Acute awareness of the local socio-political landscape and keen insights into local community concerns/issues
- Research and integrate industry news, trends, and compelling angles into PR programs
- High acumen and experience with managing PR crises
