Position Description
Ballard Food Bank is seeking a Major Gifts Development Manager to join their team to build relationships with individuals and encourage them to contribute to Ballard Food Bank’s mission and initiatives. As an anti-racist organization, Ballard Food Bank is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity and inclusivity in its work. This is a full-time, hybrid position with flexibility in scheduling, that reports to the Director of Development and Communications.
Responsibilities
The Major Gifts Development Manager is responsible for:
– Developing and executing the major gifts fundraising program,
– Managing relationships with major donors and prospects with a minimum capacity to donate of $1,000 per year,
– Implementing effective fundraising strategies for growing philanthropic giving,
– Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor prospects,
– Maintaining detailed and accurate records of donor interactions in a fundraising program CRM, and
– Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
– 3-5 years of development experience (including at least two years of major gifts experience),
– A strong commitment to racial equity and social justice,
– A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications, and development/fundraising certification is preferred,
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
– Experience working with boards and donors to secure significant gifts,
– Demonstrated project management and independent working skills,
– Knowledge of ethical standards of professional fundraising, including confidentiality, and
– Ability to work effectively with MS Office software and fundraising CRM.
Physical Demands and the Work Environment:
The Major Gifts Development Manager may need to work onsite at the Ballard Food Bank several days per week but may work remotely for part of the workweek. Ballard Food Bank strongly encourages vaccination against COVID-19 to keep its community safe.
