A seasoned litigation attorney is needed for a boutique law company that focuses on real property litigation and constitutional property rights. An ambitious lawyer who wants to work on complex cases, work with a vibrant team, and advance their litigation career should seize this chance.

With a concentration on legal writing, discovery management, and trial preparation for cases in State, Federal, and Appellate court, this attorney will join a small team of legal professionals. A high priority will be given to those with experience in real estate and/or land use litigation who have 5 to 15+ years of civil litigation experience.

Although the company is willing to consider applicants for 100% remote work, preference will be given to people who live in Sacramento and are willing to occasionally work in the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage all facets of civil litigation matters, including but not restricted to drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal paperwork, doing legal research, and getting ready for and participating in hearings and trials.
  • Represent clients in disputes involving constitutional property rights and civil litigation in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies, with an emphasis on real estate and/or land use litigation.
  • Advising on potential methods and outcomes, evaluating the merits of clients’ arguments, and providing legal guidance.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis, keeping up with pertinent laws, rules, and precedents, and making good use of legal databases and other resources.
  • Work together to design case strategies, analyze papers, and guarantee the timely and proper execution of assignments with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and support personnel.
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of legal plans and initiatives that will benefit the entire firm, hence fostering its success and expansion.

Requirements:

  • Having a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an approved law school and being a current member of the California State Bar.
  • 5 to 15 years’ minimum to plus in civil litigation. Experience with real estate, land use, or constitutional property rights is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and research skills in law, with the capacity to decipher complicated legal issues and effectively explain conclusions to clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to prepare convincing legal documents, effectively convey arguments, and, when necessary, negotiate settlements.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage numerous cases concurrently while adhering to deadlines and paying close attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of how to use legal databases and other technical tools for case management and legal research.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and the capacity to establish rapport with clients, peers, and rival attorneys.
  • Flexibility and agility required to work in a fast-paced setting and adjust to shifting priorities and expectations.
  • Dedication to professionalism, morals, and upholding customer privacy.
