Cargo offers numerous internship opportunities in multiple disciplines. Candidates that are selected will be assigned to a position that fits their interests.

eCommerce & Marketing: The team at Cargo eCommerce and Marketing is now working to increase their online presence. This team is working on a number of projects, including the launch of our new website, the advancement of API development, and the introduction of digital marketplaces! The eCommerce intern will help the company advance these goals by working with our IT colleagues. The chosen applicant or candidates will be instrumental in identifying ways to enhance the newly established cargo website’s usability and functionality. The intern will take a proactive approach in facilitating online booking, API connectivity, and involvement in digital marketplaces.

Postal Network Optimization: To transfer mail around the United network as efficiently as possible, the Postal team collaborates closely with USPS and international posts. Mail delivery to the appropriate location at the appropriate time is vital to our clients’ satisfaction and our own prosperity. United Cargo is compensated for the excellent service it provides to its clients, which brings in a sizable amount of money for the company. The intern will carry out analysis to determine which postal shipments satisfy specified requirements and qualify for reimbursement. The intern will set up and oversee the entire process, which will involve tracking down overdue payments, starting claims, and identifying pending payments.

Cargo Logistics & Support Services: The $2 billion+ United Cargo business depends on projects, which is why two summer intern positions in these departments are necessary. This will entail managing millions of dollars in capital investments, pushing cost savings and/or minimizing cost increases, statistical modeling and forecasting, optimizing warehouses, boosting accessory revenues, mitigating claims, and contract negotiations. It will also involve further optimizing 18,000+ Unit Load Device (ULD) assets and Cargo’s $70M trucking network. Throughout the global United Cargo business, these internships will address a wide range of initiatives from process improvements to operational performance to cost reduction.

Sales Strategy: The Sales Strategy department’s interns will take an active role in creating strategic plans, projecting sales, and provide analytical support to Cargo’s international sales division. The analyst team that the sales strategy intern will be working with will be working on several initiatives related to flight level forecasting and performance. In order to further define what constitutes a successful flight, the selected candidate will study data such as operational and revenue performance, yield, product mix, and customer support measures.

Revenue Management: The intern in revenue management will assist our organizations in North America and Latin America with the analysis of booking trends, capacity, and yields for specialty products. The intern will also assist in the rollout of a new worldwide dynamic pricing tool, which will facilitate Cargo’s digital transformation. It will be your responsibility to evaluate current pricing strategies in light of market conditions, review procedures and standard operating procedures for ad hoc management, and encourage the use of new tools.

Technology Products: The group responsible for technology products helps the company implement important technology initiatives. This group translates business needs into automation by acting as a link between our user groups and our technology team in collaboration with our counterparts in digital technology. The team could use an intern to assist develop new functionality for our pricing tool, as we have several innovative efforts underway. Intern duties include completing requirements, testing systems, and getting users ready for a worldwide launch.

  • The applicant must be enrolled as a current undergraduate studying business or a closely connected discipline.
