Responsibilities:
- Independently manage complex cross-functional projects and solutions, taking ownership of project objectives and targets. Lead concurrent projects that may span across different organizations or geographical areas to support business goals.
- Actively participate in engineering reviews, influence decision-making, and have a tangible impact on proposed solutions at the system and component levels, overall system architecture, and facility processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to prioritize projects, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines. Proactively assess stakeholder dependencies and milestones, troubleshoot issues, and drive solutions to mitigate their impact.
- Lead and coordinate all execution efforts in delivering systems and automated equipment designs according to established standards and guidelines. Perform equipment/system installation, throughput, and safety qualifications. Simplify, optimize, eliminate bottlenecks, and resolve complex system problems or technical deficiencies.
- Facilitate effective meetings by defining objectives, assembling the right participants, and driving detailed business and technical discussions/alignment. Document meeting discussions, decisions, and future steps to ensure alignment with internal partner teams and external vendors.
- Communicate project status, risk analysis, and risk mitigation plans promptly and accurately. Provide detailed responses to project-related questions and produce clear and concise project summaries for the leadership/management team.
- Articulate system and/or equipment designs, including layouts, technical specifications, and functional capabilities, to internal customers and partner teams.
- Efficiently manage change order controls, purchase orders, and invoice validation/approvals.
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple projects.
- Foster process improvement efforts across teams, aiming to improve, streamline, or eliminate excess processes, establish predictable process paths, drive efficiencies, and set standards. Generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions through collaboration within compressed timeframes.
- Actively mentor and develop other Amazon Operations Engineers.
- Be willing to travel domestically up to 80%, with variable travel intensity, including up to three consecutive weeks, including weekends.
Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another STEM field.
- 8+ years of experience as a project engineer, process engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer, or related role.
- 3+ years of experience managing the lifecycle of large, complex cross-functional projects, implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systems.
- Experience in leading projects, programs, or initiatives with continually increasing scope and impact.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related STEM field.
- Experience in Operations Management/Distribution Center with direct management or responsibility for material handling, automation, or other technical projects.
- Experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet programs.
- Experience with designing and/or implementing automation solutions, such as Conveyors, Sorters, high-speed manufacturing and packaging lines, Robotic work cells.
- Proven technical leadership in large-scale industrial engineering projects or programs.
