Position Description

Mountaintop is an independent game studio that develops new multiplayer games for teams. Its mission is to bring people together and provide an enjoyable and challenging game experience. The company is looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer who can help them develop their first title.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for building online services for Mountaintop games using their in-house frame. Additionally, you will:

– Develop and maintain continuous deployment systems for services
– Provide assistance in implementing client-side game features that interface with online services
– Participate on a live operations on-call rotation for monitoring and responding to game issues
– Contribute to concept, direction, and gameplay for all Mountaintop projects
– Establish engineering best practices that ensure high-quality results
– Create a team culture that prides itself on excellence, innovation, trust, and respect

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a passion for gaming and should possess the following qualifications:

– Experience with languages used to build web services (Java or Kotlin preferred but not required)
– Experience with operational and deployment automation (Terraform, Salt, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
– Experience with cloud providers (AWS preferred but not required)
– Experience with front-end web technologies and frameworks
– Experience with relational database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
– Self-motivated and eager to contribute to many different areas of development
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Other qualifications that are a plus include experience running dedicated servers for online games, working with Unreal Engine 4, and a degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related fields.

Salary Range:

The senior platform engineer position offers a salary range of $75,000.00 – $150,000.00 USD Annually, plus equity. The salary and equity packages are determined based on location, level, relevant education, training, qualifications, and/or experience.
