Position Description

Pearson is looking for a qualified English Language Arts Asset Writer for its Asset Creation team who will use his/her subject matter expertise to create authentic content for K-12 assessments for state and district clients. As the Reading/English Language Arts Asset Writer, you will work remotely and will be responsible for creating standards-based assessments while collaborating with educators, business partners, and education departments. The ideal candidate would be a content expert in R/ELA and have outstanding written communication skills and experience creating standards-aligned content.

Responsibilities

– Develop original reading comprehension assessment passages and items by following the specification documents and assignments
– Develop reading passages and items aligned with the requirements, genres, cognitive complexity levels, and specific grade levels
– Exhibit creative use of technology-enhanced items
– Enter assets into item banking platforms and meet asset deliverable deadlines
– Review and edit assets based on feedback

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in education, English literature or equivalent experience
– Experience in elementary or secondary English education is preferred
– Professional expertise in English content and educational trends
– Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills along with written communication skills
– Strong technology and software skills with the confidence to work with unfamiliar programs
– Experience creating standards-aligned content, creating large-scale assessment passages and items, and writing quality summative assessment items (preferably)
