Responsibilities:
The Director of Video & Visual Design is in charge of developing the strategy for the Enterprise Communications Creative division. This includes managing a team that will be in charge of producing original video content that will be distributed both internally and externally across Target’s owned channels and at significant corporate gatherings, managing all graphic design projects, overseeing platform redesigns, including managing corporate website design, and leading all video and visual design projects.
- As the director of video and visual design, it would be your job to work with the vice president, the directors of editorial and platform, the director of meeting planning, the content strategists, and the creative COEs to produce assets that adhere to Target’s best practices for video and visual ideation, creation, and approval workflow.
- To efficiently drive the creation of creative content for important external activations and internal business meetings, manage the in-house creative team, which includes video and graphic designers, as well as agency and freelance resources.
- Utilize connections with leading production partners and agencies to suggest video, photography, and design companies for tasks like short- and long-form video production, the creation of successful animated and illustrated assets, photoshoots, and the visual redesign of important digital platforms, among others.
- In collaboration with the Content Planner, manage all facets of the video production process, including managing agency resources, freelance support, and production calendars to guarantee successful on-budget and on-time video production.
- Oversee the evaluation of video content with important stakeholders, such as business, content, and senior strategists.
- Lead team to proactively present unique video concepts and series ideas that advance Target’s brand and reach important audiences through a range of media.
- Manage projects from conception to conclusion, including location scouting, casting, script writing, graphics, animation, VO requirements, editing, and translation, ensuring that each project has the highest possible production value and editing.
- Oversee the creative process for all visual initiatives, including style guides, independent digital hubs, and redesigns of digital platforms.
- In order to record original video content, interviews, and b-roll for the company, identify external events and important reputational activations.
- Oversee photoshoots and communicate with both internal and external talent, including team members, influencers, and business leaders.
- Updates and enhancements to video technology, animation, and graphic trends should be suggested and put into practice.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree is the bare minimum requirement.
- Team leader with a minimum of 8–10 years’ experience and a proven track record of performance in terms of creativity
- Considerable expertise in managing people and establishing teams.
- Excellent expertise working with internal and external teams to produce various types of videos, from short social explainer videos to series in the documentary style.
- It is necessary to have working knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe After Effects, and motion graphics.
- Understanding of lighting principles and methods for both studio and field productions
- You must have demonstrated expertise of the digital media and content landscape.
- Have familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to modify material to fit each platform
- With appropriate scheduling, pacing, organization, and asset management within a predetermined timetable, the candidate must demonstrate excellent and fluent editorial techniques.
- Being able to manage numerous projects with short deadlines
- It is necessary to have prior experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, highly creative, and collaborative workplace.
- It is necessary to have prior expertise working independently and managing shoots with C-suite and other talent.
- Good business sense and comprehension of how to accomplish goals while upholding brand values
- Good negotiating, teamwork, and dispute resolution abilities are necessary.
- The preference is for someone who has worked in a highly matrixed environment.
- May necessitate yearly internal or worldwide travel.
Depending on Target’s needs, a remote or hybrid work arrangement for this position may be considered. When a team member has a hybrid work arrangement, their primary duties will be split between virtual and onsite work at a Target location. A remote work arrangement allows a team member to work full-time from home or another place that is not a Target location, without having a desk at their primary headquarters. They are nevertheless allowed up to four trips to the headquarters per year. Unless Target specifies otherwise, work obligations cannot be fulfilled outside of the nation where the major work site is located. The pay range is between $123,100 and $221,600.
