The Marketing Partnerships, Alliances, and Card Services team at Disney creates and manages complex, long-term, multi-faceted relationships with select brands and companies. This team is committed to adding value to The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) and its partners through the creative development of marketing and sponsorship programs, the management of partner relationships across all TWDC business units, and the formation of new partnerships that are aligned with TWDC’s businesses and strategic goals.

The Alliance Management team is in charge of long-term growth and development of a complex portfolio of key Alliance partners with material relationships across multiple Disney business units (BUs). The Director of Alliance Management consults, analyzes, negotiates, and forms deep relationships with third-party strategic Alliances (representing both B2B and B2C brands) to provide more holistic account execution management across multiple BUs than either the Alliance partner or an individual business unit could.

This position creates and manages business and co-branded marketing programs from inception to completion across multiple touchpoints, including product development, marketing materials, media amplification, trade support, and public relations. The Director of Alliance Management adds value to TWDC and its partners by developing innovative go-to-market marketing and sales strategies based on a deep understanding of target audience insights, industry and market dynamics, short- and long-term business objectives, financial performance, and ongoing KPI measurement. This position necessitates the ability to navigate and influence key senior decision makers, as well as articulate short- and long-term recommendations to drive value for TWDC and its partners.

Responsibilities:

The Alliance Management Director will:

  • Through these strategic partnerships, drive the long-term account strategy and annual account plan to deliver value to the Alliance partner and Disney stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of current market trends and the industries of specific partners in order to stay ahead of partner expectations and competition for partner marketing resources.
  • Lead the development of appropriate metrics to reflect the Alliance’s ROI and provide regular reporting, tracking, and analysis to all stakeholders, including quarterly account business dashboards.
  • Assist TWDC business units in comprehending and communicating the BU’s strategies, business plans, and resources to a select Alliance account portfolio.
  • Join forces with TWDC business units to articulate and communicate Corporate Alliances’ strategies, business plans, and resources to the BU.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day executive point of contact for assigned Alliances for Alliance agreement compliance, account planning and development, and issue resolution for both the Alliance partner and stakeholder BUs.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive material value for TWDC and the partner by identifying, developing, and negotiating new promotional, marketing, product distribution, and/or sponsorship projects, initiatives, or events using the combined knowledge and needs of the partner and Disney BUs.
  • Create and motivate a high-performing team, including performance evaluations, pay reviews, training requirements, and standard hire/fire decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Alliances Business Development team to identify and lead contract renewals, extensions, and amendments.
  • Establish strong working relationships with the Corporate Alliances Directors to ensure smooth account communication, execution, and BU integration.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze deal terms in order to create a financial model of the agreement and understand the practical implications of carrying out each of the terms.
  • Create formal negotiation plans for each negotiation session, including talking points.
  • Throughout the negotiation process, collaborate with legal resources and BU stakeholders.
  • To communicate with BU stakeholders, document the final agreement with a package that includes a signed contract, financial model, and preliminary execution plan.

Requirements:

Fundamental Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of marketing/consulting/agency experience with proven leadership progression 5 years of contracting/negotiating/business development experience
  • 5 years of minimum consumer marketing support and development experience for Fortune 500 companies
  • 5 years of leadership experience is required.
  • Experience with strategic planning, brand management, relationship management, marketing strategy, and promotional activations is required.
  • Proven experience managing/collaborating with creative agencies and teams to ensure that direction and execution meet identified business objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience developing consumer and/or trade marketing strategy, execution, and financial analysis
  • Proven ability to work directly with Vice Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents, and other executive staff to investigate proposals and resolve execution issues on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated expert communication, facilitation, and conflict-management skills in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of TWDC business lines is required.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Previous experience in business development in promotions/marketing/sales/leasing Previous domestic (US) and international business development experience
  • 25-50% willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Education required: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is required, or equivalent work experience.

Preferential Education: MBA

This is a hybrid role, which means the employee will work part-time on-site from a Company-designated location and the rest of the time remotely.

In California, the salary range for this position is $180,072.00 to $241,560.00 per year. The actual base pay will take internal equity into account and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. Depending on the level and position offered, a bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be included in the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
