Position Description

WestEd is committed to improving equitable outcomes for youth, children, and adults with over 900 researchers, practitioners, consultants, and administrative professionals. The Communications Department is now seeking a Digital Accessibility Specialist to ensure accessibility for disabled individuals and other traditionally underserved audiences. The Accessibility Specialist must focus on creating and remediating accessible digital products and services to meet full compliance with applicable accessibility guidelines, laws, and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of accessible resources, services, experiences, and deliverables
• Provide consultation to staff on developing accessible resources, services, experiences, and deliverables
• Ensure remediation of resources and deliverables to optimize accessibility and meet full compliance with applicable accessibility guidelines, laws, and requirements
• Develop fully accessible presentations, spreadsheets, documents, extended figure descriptions, and audio descriptions
• Support accessibility ambassadorship and advocate for accessibility across the agency

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications and standard accessibility tools
• Strong sense of professionalism and teamwork
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) is desired, but not required

WestEd level E compensation ranges from $57,400 to $98,400, but the typical hiring range for this position is $65,600 to $82,000 annually. In addition to base salary, there are various benefits offered.
