Position Description

The Bank of Canada is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join its Collateral Management Solutions’ technical development team. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be working with Agile and DevOps principles, and leveraging test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features and configurations. Additionally, you will introduce and champion best-in-class DevOps development techniques, lead initiatives to mitigate recurring incidents, and work with product owners to improve operational support.

Responsibilities

– Introduce best-in-class DevOps development techniques, including frameworks, configuration, deployment, automation, application health monitoring, and testing
– Drive thought-leadership, consistent development processes, and DevOps practices
– Provide production operational support and work with operational support groups to determine the root cause behind critical production incidents and process challenges
– Lead initiatives to address the support backlog to mitigate recurring incidents in the future
– Work with product owners to reduce technical debt and improve operational support

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in computer science, software development, or a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
– 5 years of experience in a DevOps development role
– Solid interpersonal skills and strong client-service orientation
– Experience with containers, PaaS RedHat/OpenShift, Docker, ArgoCD, Kustomize (YAML)
– Experience with DevOps toolchain, Jenkins, Groovy, Kibana
– Knowledge of SAML, SSL certificates, Java/JavaScript, Linux Shell, GitHub, Oracle PL/SQL
– Hands-on experience providing production support of a critical application in a highly available environment

The Bank of Canada offers a hybrid work model of remote and on-site work. The salary of the position ranges from $83,500 to $98,235 (job grade 16), and there are flexible and comprehensive benefits offered. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, great team player with an affinity for continued learning and self-improvement, and excellent communication skills. Candidates must be within Canada and fall within a reasonable commuting distance of the office location. If the candidate does not meet this requirement, they will be eligible to work 100% remotely (within Canada) for the duration of the term.
