Position Description:

The Project Manager is accountable for the entire planning and completion of projects within budget, on time, in accordance with Kent’s quality and safety standards, and to the customer’s complete satisfaction. This job collaborates with the Operations Manager and Superintendent to develop corrective action plans in order to maintain project budgets, position the field team to overcome project challenges, and perhaps expedite the project schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provides weekly progress reports and comments for further financial analysis in order to create and monitor budgets and schedules that satisfy customer expectations.
  • Manages and monitors all project costs to ensure that project progress meets or exceeds the budgeted amount.
  • Together with the Operations Manager and Superintendent, identifies potential schedule impacts, such as scope, weather, manpower, and modifications, and facilitates measures to mitigate these impacts.
  • Owns the buyout process by confirming pricing and scope, identifying winning bidders, providing a gap analysis versus the initial scope, and managing the issuing of subcontracts.
  • Manages the setup of the submission schedule. Coordination of team priorities; evaluation and approval of all shop drawings and samples prior to submission to clients, architects, or engineers.
  • Fostering connections with vendors and subcontractors may result in cost savings for project buyouts.
  • Ensures that approved submittals are returned to subcontractors and made accessible to the project team in accordance with the project schedule and contract.
  • Work with the Superintendent to guarantee that the crew’s time, job details, logistics, and materials are delivered on time.
  • Manage any modifications with the scope and project drawings to establish the cost impact on the budget, process adjustments with the field to maintain the schedule, and determine whether change orders are required.
  • Prepare and provide weekly job performance reports to top management in order to revise financial predictions and quarterly business strategies.
  • Directs the project initiation procedure, which includes job forms, certification requests, submittals, schedule of values, etc.
  • Manages punch list items with clients and field personnel.
  • As required, work remotely on the project location.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience managing concrete projects and scopes as a subcontractor or general contractor.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction, or engineering.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, especially the ability to provide guidance in a clear and succinct manner.
  • Be entrepreneurial and develop realistic solutions to challenges and questions.
  • Be capable and eager to solve problems through invention; work with minimal guidance and supervision; and be proactive, as opposed to reactive.
