Position Description
Solana Center for Environmental Innovation is looking for a Bilingual Environmental Solutions Coordinator to join our award-winning team and help bring about change for a cleaner and healthier world. Solana Center for Environmental Innovation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping San Diego County make sustainable living a reality through zero-waste, food waste prevention, and food recovery education initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Bilingual Environmental Solutions Coordinator will be responsible for implementing various waste reduction and diversion projects, researching waste diversion practices, interfacing with public and private sector clients, conducting inspections and providing technical consultations, giving presentations and webinars, and creating reports and presentations. The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about sustainability. Other key responsibilities include:
Primary:
– Leading food recovery inspections and technical consultations for food businesses
– Managing zero waste and food waste prevention/diversion education and outreach campaigns in the community
– Collaborating with businesses, event organizers, and school districts to identify solutions for reducing waste from their waste streams
– Assisting clients with waste diversion event planning and day-of procedural management
– Developing creative approaches to change behavior related to waste prevention and diversion for business and residential sectors, and improving community stewardship

Qualifications
– Native Spanish speaker
– Work experience or academic qualifications in Sustainability or Environmental Science
– Excellent written and verbal communications skills
– Detail-oriented and organized
– Ability to work independently on complex tasks
– Exemplary customer service understanding and demeanor
– Proven track record of collaboration and partnership building with diverse groups including staff, businesses, and community partners
– Willing to “get hands dirty,” sorting and categorizing waste
– Strong computer skills, especially with MS Excel and Word
– Possess a current driver’s license and automobile insurance
