Under the direction of the Director, the Associate Director I will support the direction of live Studio, Remote, and REMI productions by assisting with the timing and execution of the show as well as the preparation and assembly of show components. In addition, will offer content suggestions based on evolving sports-related storylines. Strong multitasking, communication, and leadership abilities are required of the ADI.
Responsibilities:
- Timing elements, keying fonts, and coordinating feeds help the director during production. Maintains communication with live shots by providing alerts and cues, and ensures the proper framing, audio and video levels meet on-air standards.
- During Ignite/Automated productions – Associate Directors will aid in routing, papping, framing and clearing remote guests; picking music for studio productions and MOS’ing into the rundown; assist Director with reviewing codes and rundown adjustments.
- Assists in communication of traffic changes, graphical demands, music cues, and source changes with media.
- Assists the Director with pre-production aspects like billboards, promotions, teases, graphics, special effects and virtual imagery; organizes video and typefaces throughout the production.
- Working with the Director and Production crew, will request photographs and monitor graphics to support stories throughout the show. Will conduct studio motions with requested aspects during pre-production or discuss with director to be executed live.
- Verifies locations of guests (remote and studio) with Audio and Transmission/VCC by giving papers (FrameStores, IFBs, booking windows).
- Works with the appointed lead Directors on customized visual elements and animations for speciality shows.
- Participates in meetings with Production to aid in the production of visual content for the show.
- Assists the Director, Producer and Coordinating Producer with PCR setup, including the comms and monitoring build.
- On REMI productions, aids the Producer and Director in managing game-related obligations and traffic. Communicates directly with numerous roles, including the timeout coordinator or red hat to ensure the game and control room are in sync. Generates cards with promotional, sales and editorial material for performers to read on air. Runs the preproduction session.
- Has the knowledge and the capacity to stage manage studio-related projects, both in-house and on-remote where there is a business necessity.
- Helps to teach fresh Associate Directors. Provides comments to support their development, and documents in written form to Management. Written criticism should be insightful, thorough, and include precise, specific instances.
- Assumes accountability for one’s own progress through autonomous training and observation. learns about additional roles and tools in the control room and studio that are relevant to the Associate Director position.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities necessary for the position consistently while adhering to the Directing Department performance standards as they relate to leadership, communication, operations, personal growth, and productions. Strong leadership skills are displayed in all interactions and choices.
Requirements:
- It is essential to have a solid understanding of television production.
- Verbal communication abilities that are comprehensive, clear, and concise.
- The capacity to think swiftly under duress.
- Diligent, focused on the details, enthusiastic about production, intrigued by technology, and consistently brings original ideas.
Preferred credentials:
- Three years of production experience is required, however network experience is encouraged.
- Experience as a director is preferred.
- Spanish and English language proficiency is preferred.

- Equivalent to a high school diploma
