Excellent communicator and meticulous professional, are you? For the position of Associate Grant Writer, Repair the World is looking for a talented writer, researcher, and project manager. Via grant writing and reporting, foundation research to uncover new grant opportunities, and gathering information and testimonies from internal stakeholders to support our grant reporting, this role will serve as a capacity builder for the development team. This position is ideal for someone who is exceptionally detail-oriented, well-organized, and skilled at project management. The ideal location for this full-time role would be one of Repair’s communities and it would be on the development team (Atlanta, Baltimore, Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Colorado, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Pittsburgh). Remote candidates who meet the requirements will be taken into consideration. The Grants Manager is subordinate to the Associate Grant Writer.

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the grants manager and other team members, conduct grant research, writing, and reporting to assist institutional fundraising initiatives, such as:

  • Examining and locating potential new federations, corporations, and foundations.
  • Investigating grant and reporting demands.
  • Obtaining data from internal personnel to assist with grant writing and reporting.
  • Creating donor briefing materials, report addendums, and donor collateral.
  • Grant proposals and reports, including writing, editing, and submission.
  • Management of Grants: Effective project management, such as the following, will support our grant writing and reporting procedures.
  • Keeping a thorough grants schedule for grant applications, reports, and other documents, and disseminating it frequently.
  • Creating and implementing a thorough grants process to guarantee that program, development, and financial personnel are in agreement with grant requirements.
  • Coordinating grant-related internal communications, such as written correspondence and internal staff kick-off meetings.
  • Use technology to assure accurate record-keeping for grant development data and record-keeping, including:
  • Updating and keeping up-to-date Salesforce donor records that are correct for institutional backers, including tracking incoming donations and creating recognition letters for money received.
  • In order to ensure communication regarding institutional sponsors, the development department should create monthly updates that are shared with the entire company.

  • 1–2 years’ worth of experience (internships or paid employment), especially with a writing or development emphasis.
  • Good writing and editing skills, especially the ability to transform information into interesting prose.
  • Ability to draft and copy-edit written material, including presentations, donor letters, and emails.
  • High attention to detail, excellent organizational and project management skills, and the capacity to manage various projects and activities with changing priorities.
  • Experience, a will to take initiative and operate autonomously, and the capacity to perform well under pressure.
  • A fundamental knowledge of CRM platforms like Salesforce, or a willingness to learn new platforms.
  • Basic budgetary knowledge or a willingness to learn.
  • Excitement about supporting a talented national team and working cooperatively.
