What you intend to do

  • Handles day-to-day responsibilities related to the Company’s annual SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) Section 302 and 404 compliance initiatives, such as developing the yearly risk assessment, control process maps, and important SOX control testing.
  • Collaborates with process owners to build action plans and correct any control flaws.
  • Coordinates audit procedures supporting the issuance of the Company’s reports with the Company’s external auditors.
  • As appropriate, assists business groups by offering assistance on internal control challenges.
  • Creates and maintains documentation for SOX compliance testing activities.
  • Ongoing evaluation of the efficacy and efficiency of business processes, procedures, and accounting assumptions
  • Recommends and aids in process enhancements to improve the control environment and resource utilization (people, technology, funds)
  • At meetings and through written and verbal communication with internal and external clients, represents the department.
  • Does a number of different functions/ad hoc projects as assigned to assist the department/company in meeting its goals and objectives.
  • Keeps up to date on Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) developments and matters that may have an influence on the Company’s SOX activities.
  • Traveling as little as possible

All you’ll need for success

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar experience/education
  • Knowledge and expertise in applying and auditing generally recognized accounting standards (GAAP)
  • prior employment experience of 3+ years

Education and prior job experience are preferred qualifications.

  • MBA, MA, and so on.
  • Bachelor’s degree with accounting college credits required to sit for the CPA exam
  • 2 years of professional accounting experience in a large public accounting firm or a large public company’s accounting department
  • Professional accreditation (CPA or equivalent certification)
  • Familiar with SEC financial and DOT reporting and relevant regulations
  • Working knowledge of the SAP accounting and Hyperion reporting systems is required.

Qualifications, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Good grasp of accounting theory, internal control principles, and a solid comprehension of amounts presented in consolidated financial statements. Familiarity with SOX, COSO 2013, and PCAOB standards impacting accounting and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as the ability to handle several projects successfully in a fast-paced workplace
  • Microsoft Office proficient (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Flexible/adaptable to continual change and deadline requirements
  • Working in a team atmosphere is necessary.
  • Ability to work on projects as well as prioritize and perform concurrent tasks is necessary.
