The person in this post will work in a fun, fast-paced atmosphere with the Engineering Services Infrastructure team, implementing and supporting DMED infrastructure at live remote events all over the world, both on-site and remotely. When not working remotely, this person will be assigned operational duties primarily at our Bristol, Connecticut offices in addition to live event responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Building, shipping, and receiving systems to and from the site for logistical requirements for far-off events
  • A high need for travel to support remote live events
  • DMED infrastructure setup, maintenance, and takedown at designated events
  • Respond to and fix difficulties that influence the production of a show as they are happening, such as system failures, malfunctions, and associated technical issues. They also carry out the diagnostic testing, repair, and replacement procedures required to fix common, complex, and specialized issues.
  • Coordinates the actions of technicians involved in the deployment and configuration of the systems, as well as with vendors on moves, additions, and re-locations of systems or equipment. Performs upgrades to system hardware and software.
  • To guarantee optimal broadcast performance at the facility, execute preventative maintenance on all Engineering Services systems and equipment, including on-air graphics machines, DMED supported clients, workstations & servers, Control Room and Studio equipment, etc.
  • Creates and uses practical preventative maintenance and diagnostic techniques, methods, and solutions
  • Any additional responsibilities required to further business objectives
  • Required training, education, and experience:

Requirements:

  • Working in live production scenarios and having a minimum of 2 years of prior, relevant experience in broadcast engineering or information technology
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN technologies
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computers and servers
  • Excellent communication skills both in writing and speaking
  • Excellent ability to solve problems
  • The capacity to prioritize and carry out several tasks at once
  • Physical needs and working conditions include a high level of travel, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and the capacity to operate in confined spaces, such as active production trucks, control rooms, studios, etc.
  • High School Diploma

Preferred:

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of the systems, specifications, TCP/IP protocols used on servers and workstations, systems administration, and server administration for television production.
  • Working knowledge of IP protocols, DNS, SNMP, RHEL, CentOS, and Wireshark, as well as expertise administering Linux systems.
  • B.S. in a computer science or broadcast engineering-related major from an authorized university, or five years of prior experience working in live production settings
